Front office procedures, chair-side assisting, pre-testing and contact lens instruction are just a few of the many duties paraoptometrics perform while working directly with an optometrist.
Paraoptometrics play a valuable role in providing quality eye care to each patient who enters the office.

The essential functions of this position include the following:
Pretest using PCE and Think Out Loud techniques:
Review patient information for personal and family history Explain testing that you are performing Neutralize glasses on the lensometer Perform AR and NCT Perform Optomap Take Visual Acuities Perform Stereopsis and Color Vision Perform Visual Field testing Perform Worth 4 dot and other various tests Properly turn on/off all equipment at the beginning/end of the day Achieve patient count goals by converting phone calls into scheduled exams; Pre-appointing all patients; Calling pre-appoints and scheduling; Confirming appointments; Taking all walk-ins; Sending out recall cards monthly; Calling no-shows and rescheduling As approved by state law, fill contact lens prescriptions and dispense contact lenses; Train patients on how to properly insert and remove contact lenses; Place contact lens orders; Prepare contact lenses for dispensing; Call patients when their orders are ready Creation of a customer-focused, professional culture as measured by dealing with patients in a professional manner; Greet patients in a warm and friendly manner; Answering the phone in a timely manner; Regulating patient flow; Completion and demonstrating competency in training programs; Customer feedback (letters, phone calls, etc.
); Fostering a team environment with Associates, Doctors, and Dr.
staff; Effective execution of visual merchandising and presentation standards; Exhibiting a professional presentation both in appearance and demeanor with customers, Associates, and Doctors Assist with merchandising according to standards as measured by marketing and contact lens rebate programs; Visual appearance inside and outside of the store (i.
e.
signage); Maintenance of overall standards (i.
e.
cleanliness, housekeeping) Other duties as assigned by the Store Manager include but are not limited to filing insurance claims as needed; Input patient information into the POS system efficiently and effectively; Handle all forms of monies; Preparing the daily reports with all monies taken for the deposit; Maintaining cleanliness of the store; Closing duties and Securing of the location Adherence to policies and procedures Performs additional responsibilities as needed or directed.
Position Requirements include:
Ability to perform pretest duties in a professional manner.
Ability to present and implement decisive and creative solutions to issues/opportunities to grow the business.
Ability to provide enthusiastic and concise communication to meet/exceed guest expectations as well as foster positive and results-oriented Optical Team, Doctor, and Para relationships.
Demonstrate success with in-store merchandising and attention to detail.
Ability to manage priorities through adaptability, willingness to take calculated risks, and follow-up.
Experience with computers preferred.
