Realty Specialist

Exercises technical expertise in a wide variety of complex land and realty transactions in land and realty case work, planning systems, compliance, environmental analysis and budget. Leads and analyzes information and makes recommendations on a wide variety of complex and controversial lands and realty actions. Prepares reports, assessments, calculates and determines realty and lands cost recovery, rental and monitoring fees and bonds. Accesses the Bureau's automated land and records system to document transactions. Functions as senior Realty Program contact in interactions with the public. Responds to inquiries regarding laws, regulations and agency policies. Conducts pre-application meetings for lands and realty actions. Works with public, State and county agencies, special interest groups and private organizations. Prepares environmental documents for realty casework. Conducts on-site compliance examinations on rights-of-way, permits, R&PPs and other authorizations. Prepares collects, evaluates, and consolidate land use data. Physical Demands:
The work is split between sedentary and physical. Because the employee may lead or often conduct on-site examinations, there is some walking, standing, bending, and requiring normal physical excretion. Onsite visits require physical ability to traverse remote rough country by cross country vehicle or by foot, sometimes in extreme climatic conditions to conduct field inspections. The field duties of this position require that the employee operate four-wheel drive vehicles on and off roads in isolated areas. Work Environment:
The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The work environment varies from an office setting to working outside in isolated areas under adverse weather conditions. The employee usually works alone while in the field. Temperatures in the field vary from minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Work in the office will generally be at a desk. The employee will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer Specialized Experience Requirements:
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-11) of the position to be filled. Examples:
processing various types of land cases such as public sales, rights-of-ways, land exchanges, acquisitions, agriculture entries, land classification, withdrawals, leases, permits, recreation and public purpose leases/patents, airport leases/patents, State selections, trespasses, etc., includes field examinations & National Environmental Policy Act work You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
